- European Green Deal: Making Europe climate neutral by 2050, boosting the economy through green technology, creating sustainable industry and transport, cutting pollution. (European Commission, 2021)
- The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people peace and prosperity by 2030. - The Paris Agreement: The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate change which aims to limit global warming to well below 2, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. (United Nations, 2015)
- Kyoto Protocol: The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement that aimed to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and the presence of greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere. (United Nations, 1997)
- The Aarhus Convention: The Aarhus Convention is created to empower the role of citizens and civil society organizations in environmental matters and is founded on the principles of participative democracy. The Aarhus Convention establishes a number of rights to the individuals and civil society organizations with regard to the environment.
